Mandafofanda Reads Lots

The world isn't just the way it is. It is how we understand it, no?

And in understanding something, we bring something to it, no?
Doesn't that make life a story?

- Yann Martel, Life of Pi

The Trouble with Tomboys - Linda Kage While maybe not original, this is still a sweet and refreshingly drama-free A jealous ex! A monster-in-law! Class divides! love story about a tomboy who gets knocked up by the local golden boy widower and how they end up finding something with each other, while working through the various hijinks that accompany the unconventional situation. What I loved about the book is its honest and quirky characters, B.J.'s tomboy brashness, Grady's vulnerability and that a there were a lot of moments that made me laugh. There are some books that make you want to puke with its sweetness - but this is one that just made me smile.
