Mandafofanda Reads Lots

The world isn't just the way it is. It is how we understand it, no?

And in understanding something, we bring something to it, no?
Doesn't that make life a story?

- Yann Martel, Life of Pi

Soulless - Gail Carriger, Gail Carriger It's a bit sad, but reading this after [b:Magic Bites|8524943|Kate Daniels Complete Set 1-4 Magic Bites, Magic Burns, Magic Strikes, Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels)|Ilona Andrews|/assets/nocover/60x80.png|13391894] and the rest of the Kate Daniels series, this book seems like the Victorian England version of those books. There's the rebellious sleuth female protagonist who spars with the Alpha male head of the local shapeshifter clan, there are vampires and other supernatural elements, and established but tense structure between the human and supernatural beings and a need for a moderator/liason position that the protagonist can fill in the end. I just didn't get into this book as much as I did those.
