Mandafofanda Reads Lots

The world isn't just the way it is. It is how we understand it, no?

And in understanding something, we bring something to it, no?
Doesn't that make life a story?

- Yann Martel, Life of Pi

Skulduggery Pleasant - Derek Landy, Tom Percival While, I wish I discovered this series when I was a kid, it's still hugely funny and enjoyable for older readers. The humour is reminiscent of earlier Harry Potter books before they got darker (though it's possible that this series will progress in that fashion as it continues), and A Series of Unfortunate Events. There's action, there's magic, there's adventure, but the highlight is definitely the conversations between Stephanie and Skulduggery, who are two awesomely hilarious characters.
